When we think of “institutions,” we tend to think of two things. They’re either large organizations with stature that do things of consequence. Think of universities with billion-dollar endowments; religious practices and ecclesiastical denominations with global influence; or the financial trading and services apparatuses that touch every aspect of our lives. Or, they’re the institutions of practice. These are social customs that provide structure to our perceptual and moral lives. Think of family, marriage, holidays, and etiquette, to name a few.

Most of the time, institutions are large, distinguished, enduring entities.

Institutions change the world.

Be that as it may, we actually believe that changing the world starts with helping your neighbor. A neighbor is not just someone you live next to. It is anyone who is in need or whom you encounter, regardless of their background or beliefs. If everyone went out of their way to improve the lives of a single neighbor, the world would immediately become a more beautiful place.

Why don’t we celebrate the beautiful and the authentic over the grotesque and the artificial?

Institutions are simply a series of norms organized by a system of functions. If these norms centered around improving other people’s lives physically, emotionally, spiritually, intellectually, mentally, and culturally, we would certainly like to see as many institutions as possible popping up and changing the norm.

Institutions can simply be one person with a vision to do something beautiful and something authentic.

At Mulvium, we change the norm and we build the organization beneath you. You don’t need an army of employees under you. No billion-dollar endowments and spheres of influence required. All you need is an appetite for good, a vision, and the willingness to bring it to life.

Mulvium’s mission is to advance charitable, educational, artistic, scientific, and other public-benefit endeavors by providing emerging projects with fiscal sponsorship, organizational infrastructure, and by mobilizing the power of patronage.

Particularly if you are doing this solo, we want to be the organization that makes your idea an institution. Our vision is that regardless of domain, your project beautifies your community through feelings of connection and empathy; restoration of the world around you; curiosity in the awe-some and the original; and love of truth. Because one neighbor at a time, we make the world a place worth living.

Thank you so much for reading. Please take this leap of faith with us! Mulvium started as a leap of faith just the same. Whether you believe in fate or free will, let us not take ourselves for granted: we have the power to make a difference if we set our minds to it.

Sincerely yours,
